How Qualified Prosthetic Caregivers Determine the Best Fit

Qualified prosthetic caregivers play a crucial role in selecting and fitting the right prosthetic for each patient. At Palmetto Orthotics and Prosthetics, we begin with an initial assessment. After a thorough evaluation of the patient’s residual limb, overall health, and lifestyle needs, we proceed to customization. Customization is a personalized design of the prosthetic to ensure it meets the specific requirements of the patient.

Trial and Adjustment phase is next. During this phase of the fitting, we make necessary adjustments for comfort and functionality. At Palmetto Orthotics and Prosthetics, we are committed to spending as much time as needed to send you on your way to success.

Our team will continually monitor your care with regular follow-ups to address any issues and ongoing adjustments.

HealthLinks South Carolina choose to recognize Heidi Collins, CEO as an impressive Woman in Health recipient for 2025. Heidi Collins has dedicated nearly 30 years to carving out a respected place for herself in the traditionally male-dominated field of orthotics and prosthetics. “I’ve had to work harder to establish my reputation, demonstrate my expertise, and earn the respect of my male colleagues,” she explains. “But I’ve learned to combine technical precision with the compassionate, patient-centered care that many women naturally bring to the table, making my approach unique.”
